When we first breathed AiR onto the internet, it was born of a world of debate groups, bad theistic arguments and anti-pseudocience.
We’ve had site and logo rebrands but have always kept the “atheist A” as part of our banners and logos.
An example of some past Logos and Designs

Learning, Growing and Adapting to Change
As we’ve spent time learning, alone and together, we’ve realised there are many bad atheist arguments, conflated and misunderstood terms, and atheism might not be as rockin’ as it’s perceived to be from within the tribe.

We’ve tried to address these bad takes, some of which we will hold our hands up and say we were guilty of ourselves, but it seems that the groupthink and fallacies are often too strong to overcome and result in being othered or trolled by aesthetic sceptics.
We’re tired of being pulled into arguments about “only one definition of atheism” and seeing so-called sceptics reject evidence of the polysemous nature of atheism, even resorting to conspiracy at times.
We’d hoped to reach more folks and explain their misunderstanding of the burden of proof and rationality but are often met with “take a logic 101” from people who probably don’t even know the rules of classical logic.
Moving away from the Atheist Community
We don’t want to be associated with folks who misuse and weaponise scientific language in the same way some theists do.
The majority of the behaviours we see from atheists online are not only arrogant, egotistical, detestable, and ignorant, but are so fundamentalist it’s no wonder some theists repeat the bad meme “atheism is a religion”
So, we’re removing the atheist a. We’re moving away from the atheist crowd. We are atheists whose focus is finding answers in reason which we discover through exploring philosophy and science.
What does this mean for the site and content?
Ultimately, the site content won’t change, we’ve been focused on this for a long time and if you’ve followed the site since its dawn you can see how we’ve evolved in the way we write and discuss topics.
There may be atheistic or theological content still, but we want people to be aware that this isn’t our main focus and when you go flashing around an atheist logo it can give people the wrong impression. It can also bring in a crowd with certain expectations of what they think your content ought to be, and result in all the negativity we are trying to avoid.
We do hope to be getting into an even broader spectrum of topics, focusing not only on philosophy and reasoning but the whole human experience and social issues. We will still address bad takes and some aspects of theology/philosophy of religion as we see fit, but there are so many more interesting topics to discuss. We will also be updating some of our older static pages, like our about section, as we have time so that it matches the direction we are shooting for.
We hope that we continue to see you at our shows and on social media, and look forward to any feedback you have.

*Please note, we may change designs again in the future but these designs are what we are happy with for now.

I’m Joe. I write under the name Davidian, not only because it is a Machine Head song I enjoy but because it was a game character I used to role-play that was always looking to better himself.
This is one of many things I hope to do with Answers In Reason.
I run our Twitter and IG accounts, as well as share responsibility for our FB group and page, and maintain the site, whilst writing articles, DJing, Podcasting (and producing), keeping fit and more.
